ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Electronic communications engineering is the utilization of science and math applied to practical problems in the field of communications. Electronic communications engineers engage in research, design, development and testing of the electronic equipment used in various communications systems. It is due to engineering colleges in delhi ncr that we enjoy such modern communication devices as cellular telephones, radios and television.

Prof. Manoj Garg, (Associate Professor ) working as Head of the Department and academic coordinator in Department of Electronic & Communication Engineering, IEC College of Engineering and Technology has completed his B.Tech from UPTU Lucknow and M.Tech from RTU Kota. Presently he is pursuing PhD in Microwave engineering from Jaypee University Noida ( JIIT). He is having 12 years of teaching experience at Graduate and Post Graduate level. His areas of interest are Microwave engineering and Micro-strip patch antenna. He has attended various FDP programs at University level. He has attended many national and international conferences from his area of interest. He has more than 7 international Journal publications, 5 international conferences and 3 national conferences publication. He has attended many technical workshops as well as organizer of many workshops at University level. He has added his presence to make the ROBOCON event a huge success. Electronics Workshop & PCB Design Lab
In this lab students do different types of work related to PCB designing. These are designing, winding and testing of transformer, making of PCB (circuit artwork, negative development, etching, drilling, etc) and study of soldering and de soldering techniques.

Logic Design Lab
Digital electronic circuits are usually made from large assemblies of logic gates. In this lab, students design circuit with the help of breadboard, study logic gates and design different types of Flip Flop with logic gates, design multiplexer, adder, subtractor and different type of counter, seven segment display.

Electronics Device Lab
In this lab, students study active and passive components (Diode, Transistor, Resistor, Capacitor, Inductor, FET, etc) and analyze the difference between the two. Students study about passive components like resistance color coding, different types of capacitance measuring using multi meters and coding, active components like diode and its applications in rectifier, clipper, clamper, voltage regulator, transistor (amplifier, oscillator), etc. Students also study to operate various equipments like CRO, multimeter, function generator, different types of power supply etc.

Electronics Measurement lab
In this lab students study how to measure the Lissajous pattern, unknown frequency using CRO, study of different types of pressure transducers, different types of temperature transducers, study of different types of Bridges(Kelvin double bridge, Schering bridge, Wheatstone bridge), study of voltmeter, ammeter.

Integrated Circuits Lab
In this lab students study Operational Amplifier and its application like Comparator, Oscillator, Adder & Subtractor, different types of active filters (low pass, high pass, band pass, band stop), Log Antilog amplifier, Voltage Regulator, Analog to Digital Convertor & Digital to Analog Convertor etc. In this lab students also study Phase Lock Looped IC, 555 Timer IC to generate square wave pulse. All circuits are designed on bread board using ICs and active and passive components.

Analog & Digital Communication Engg. Lab
In this lab students study about various types of analog and digital communication technique. These are Amplitude Modulation & Demodulation (DSB/SC, SSB/SC), Frequency Modulation & Demodulation, Pulse Modulation & Demodulation (PPM, PWM, PAM). Students also study digital communication techniques. These are Amplitude Shift Keying Modulation & Demodulation, Frequency Shift Keying Modulation & Demodulation, Pulse Code Modulation & Demodulation etc. Students briefly study about transmitter & receiver and different types of antennas.

Microprocessor & Microcontroller Lab
The increased use and the importance of microprocessors have led to the appearance of microcontroller chips. A microcontroller is also known as a single-chip computer and it is manufactured by combining the basic microprocessor and the peripheral modules inside a single chip. In this lab students study arithmetic program (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division etc.), logical program (finding largest/smallest, ascending/descending, code conversion), algebra program (square, square root) etc. Students also study about interfacing, peripheral devices program. All programs are performed on 8085, 8086 microprocessor and 8051 microcontroller. The lab has also now introduced MSP430 microcontroller.

Electronics CAD  Lab
In this lab students work on Orcad Pspice software to design circuit by the help components toolbox. Students designs and analyses of different circuits. These are CMOS inverter, NMOS inverter, PMOS inverter, multiplexer, adders, rectifiers etc.

Antenna & Microwave lab.
Microwave engineering pertains to the study and design of microwave circuits, components, and systems. Fundamental principles are applied to analysis, design and measurement techniques in this field. In this lab students study Reflex Klystron Characteristics, Measurement of wavelength and frequency of waveguide, Magic Tee, Isolator, Multi-Hole directional coupler, attenuator and different type of antenna etc. Students will measure the radiation pattern (in E & H planes) with rotating antenna platforms, horn microwave absorbers and various antennas such as different lengths of dipole antennas, Yagi-Uda antennas, horn antennas, axial-mode helical antennas, waveguide slot antenna arrays and parabolic reflectors. There are also various waveguide components for carrying out experiments on microwave techniques which are all designed in waveguide technology R100 standard (Gunn diodes, isolators, Klystron power supply, PIN modulators, slotted lines, cross directional couplers, variable and fixed attenuators, frequency meters, SS tunner, circulator, movable short, matched terminal etc.

Digital Signal Processing Lab
DSP laboratory, built on the signals and systems fundamentals, mainly focuses on the learning of design, analysis and synthesis of various real time digital signals (either in time domain or in frequency domain) and systems employing different computation algorithms with Code Composer Studio software and TMS320C6713 DSP Starter Kit (DSK). Students performed practical likes Synthesis of square wave, Synthesis of triangular, moving the average filter, convolution, digital differentiator, IR filter, FIR filter, FFT, DFT etc.

Electronic Circuit Design Lab
In this lab students will carry out a design oriented project work using various analog/ digital building blocks which they have already studied in their analog electronic/digital electronic courses such as electronic circuits, integrated circuits and filter design & analyze. In this lab students design and analyze op-amp based biquad KHN Filter, OTA biquad transfer characteristics, wein bridge oscillator, Op-amp/ OTA based function generator, log/antilog amplifier circuits, analog multiplier/ divider circuit, CMOS circuits and any circuit idea using 555 Timer in conjunction with any other ICs

Vaishnavi (Emeritus Professor, Department of Computer Information Systems, George Town University, USA). They   highlighted  the role of ‘Solar Energy’ and ‘Design Research Methodology’ for India’s march towards affordable energy deployment driven via innovative paradigm.
  9. HOD Mr.Manoj Garg along with students in NATIONAL ROBOCON 2018 in boosting their morale and confidence. The team cracked a tough fight in the overall event.

    ROBOCON-2018 (Biggest national robotics contest) held at Pune. This robotics competition was organized by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Doordarshan/Prasar Bharati and Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune. Total 130 teams were registered for this event and 117 teams reached Pune for participation and only 103 teams could reach up to arena (competition playground). IEC stood at 87th position out of 117 teams in this event.

    ELECRAMA-2018 Exhibition was organized from 09th of March to 14th of March 2018 in Expo mart Greater Noida. The department of ECE visited ELECRAMA-2018 Exhibition along with students of ECE 2nd and 3rd year. Prof. Manoj Garg, Mr. Sudhakar Srivastava and Mr. Vivek Kumar represented ECE department of IEC-CET.

PROJECT NAME:WOMEN SECURITY SYSTEM

Brief Introduction:
This project describes about a smart intelligent security system for women. Women all over the world are facing much unethical physical harassment. This acquires a fast pace due to lack of a suitable surveillance system. Our project is a venture to resolve this problem. This circuit can be embedded in products such as sandals, wrist band and spectacles that are used in day to day life. The system resembles a band on the wrist incorporated with pressure switch as an input which when activates shows the result Screaming alarm and message will be send to police station and all stored numbers of relatives or friends. This mechanism is imposed for self-defending purpose and sends location and messages to the emergency contacts and also figure out the attacker. Shock circuit mechanism can be used to give shock to the attacker that act as a weapon of the smart technology. We really believe that this endeavor will make a difference in the women life.

Waste management is one of the primary problem that the world faces irrespective of the case of developed or developing country. The key issue in the waste management is that the garbage bin at public places gets overflowed well in advance before the commencement of the next cleaning process. It in turn leads to various hazards such as bad odor & ugliness to that place which may be the root cause for spread of various diseases. To avoid all such hazardous scenario and maintain public cleanliness and health this work is mounted on a smart garbage system. The main theme of the work is to develop a smart intelligent garbage alert system for a proper garbage management.

  • This smart dustbin automatic opens its cap when we pass our hand above it
  • It store biodegradable and non biodegradable things at different places.
  • It sends message to the Municipal Corporation when it fill up to certain level

Department of ECE conducted A Guest Lecture on “LAB VIEW” delivered by Mr Nitesh Pradhan Of National Instruments on Feb. 09th, 2018 for the students of B Tech (3rd Year ) ECE.

Department of Electronics and Communication conducted A Workshop on “Internet of Things (IOT)” delivered by Mr Amir Khan Of Aptron Solution Pvt Ltd. on March. 14th, 2018 for the students of B Tech (3rd Year ) ECE and EE.

The training cum demonstration session on “Embedded Systems Design Using MSP430 G2553,MSP430F5529,MSP430F5969,CC3100” was organised on 20/02/2018 by the Electronics and Communication department under the Texas Instruments India University Program at IEC college of Engineering and Technology,Greater Noida. Mr.Abhishek from Texas Instruments conducted the session for the students and made it a successful venture.

The Embedded System workshop was organized on 26/09/2017 (Tuesday) by the ECE Department. The workshop was successfully conducted by Mr Abhishek, faculty and trainer (APTRON)

A 4 hour training workshop was organized at e-Yantra lab on 12th August 2017 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Prof. Ashvini Deshmukh, Co-ordinator of e-yantra of Northern region and Associate Professor at MGM, Noida was invited to conduct the workshop

ECE department was organized a seminar on “EMBEDDED SYSTEMS” on 26-08-2017 (Saturday) from 11:00 am to 01:30 pm. The session was amazing and knowledge full to our students.
Dr Sandeep Gupta, Director of 3ST Technologies Pvt. Ltd was invited to conduct this seminar. Mr. Vivek kumar from ECE department organized this Seminar.
