The Students’ Chapter of Institution of Engineers was inaugurated at IEC-CET Greater Noida on 12th February, 2016 in the college campus. Major General (Retd.) S.K Gupta, who is presently honorary Chairman of NCR Chamber of Commerce, was the Chief Guest who chaired the function.
Dr. D.B Singh, Director IEC Group of Institutions welcomed the Chief Guest. In his welcome address, he explained the importance and role of Institution of Engineers in Technical education. By opening of Students’ Chapter, our students will be benefited as they can interact and participate in seminars and other activities (Tech quiz, Workshop etc) arranged by Institution of Engineers.
Chief Guest, Major General (Retd.) S.K Gupta, in his speech emphasized the importance of imagination over knowledge which leads to innovation/research. In turn, it leads to technological development. As he belongs to armed forces, he also informed the students that they should join armed forces so they get an opportunity to serve the country by defending its borders. He also told about Institution of Engineers which was established at Kolkata in 1920. Institution of Engineers publishes many books, journals containing technical aspects, organizes seminars and workshop etc. The students through this chapter can remain in touch with the latest innovations and research. Thus, they can pursue their carrier towards research and can achieve technological developments in India. It can bring our country to the forefront in the field of technological development.
A seminar was also organized during the function on “Technical Innovation and Excellence for Young Professionals” in which our students participated. Prizes were given to the winners. The first prize was given to Ms. Nilam Bhardwaj, student of ECE 4th year and second prize was given to Ms. Urvashi Gupta, students of EE 3rd year. Certificates were distributed to all participants.
