The Department Of Mechanical Engineering has seen considerable growth since prehistoric times. Today as we embark on new technological developments in the field of mechanical engineering which has widened tremendously to include in sectors of Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Aided Design and Advance Manufacturing, Nano Materials & Technology, and Industrial Engineering besides conventional core areas.


Automobile Engineering is a specialized program of mechanical engineering which deals with the study of Automotive-drafting, drawing, design and manufacturing of automobile and their respective subpart and system. Automobile engineers incorporate the elements of mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety engineering in manufacturing, assembling and operation of automotive components and their vehicles.

Since its inception in 2001, the Discipline of Mechanical Engineering offers four years undergraduate B.Tech. program and two years postgraduate M.Tech program in the specialized area of Thermal and Mechanical. The Discipline of Automobile Engineering offers four years undergraduate B.Tech. program.


This course is approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi (India) and affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (www.aktu.ac.in). To build a strong theoretical and practical foundation of Mechanical and Automobile, students are provided deep knowledge in field of computer-aided engineering and manufacturing, material testing analysis, heating and cooling systems, fluid and machinery behaviors, workshop technology, industrial equipment and machinery, product life-cycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, transport systems, robotics devices.

HOD’s Profile

Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Gupta has obtained his Ph.D degree from IIT Delhi in “Dynamics based design of robotic systems” from Mechanical Engineering Department. He obtained his B.Tech and M.Tech degree from Dr. B. R. A. University, Agra (Formerly Agra Univ.) and UPTU, Lucknow in Mechanical Engineering respectively. He has more than 12 years of experience in teaching at IEC College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida and 3 years of experience in research in a sponsored project at IIT Delhi. He has 10 publications in International/National journals and conferences of repute. He has travel aboard (Croatia) for presenting paper in an international conference for which he got the travel grant from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India. He has attended several FDP’s, workshops, conferences, seminars, etc. He has been awarded with the best faculty resource (Mechanical Engineering Department) in 2009 and best faculty (contribution to the Mechanical Engineering Department) in 2012. In his 12 years of teaching tenure at IEC, other than teaching he is involved in development of labs, active member for accreditation of Mechanical Engineering Department and guided several B.Tech projects. His area of interest is multibody dynamics, mechanisms, design optimization and robotics. His other interests include playing sports and reading books.

Prof. Rajendra Tiwari is an Associate professor in the department of mechanical engineering. He is currently pursuing Ph.D in “Indian Energy Scenario – Emerging areas in power Sector & future Projections” from AKTU, Lucknow. He has done his M.Tech in specialization area of Thermal engineering from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pant Nagar (U.S. Nagar, Uttarakhand) and B.E. in mechanical engineering from Ravi Shankar University, Raipur (C.G.). He possesses 11 years of teaching experience and 12 year industry experience at Fertilizer & Chemical companies with various leading organizations. He has published various research papers in national and international conferences. He organized various industry interactions/ visits for our undergraduate students. He has attended a number of FDPs, Mr. Tiwari is also associate member (M.I.E.) of Institutions of Engineers, New Delhi & life member of Indian institute of materials management, Mumbai.

Prof. Ijlal Ahmad Rizvi is an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department of IEC College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida. He is also Convener of Library Committee of the institute and in charge of M. Tech. courses in the department. He has passed B.E. (Mechanical) and M. Tech. (Industrial and Production) from ZHCET, AMU, Aligarh. His thesis topic in M.Tech is “Development of some product using value Engineering Methodology”. He has more than 12 years of teaching and 2 years of industrial experience. His areas of interest are Product Development, Pressure Die Casting, Total Quality Control and Energy Management. He has presented 2 papers in international conferences and attended various FDP, QIP and workshops. He has also worked as an enumerator in third census of small scale industries in India and held various academic and administrative responsibilities in various institutes.

Mr. Mukesh Kumar is working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering. He is currently pursuing Ph.D. on “Investigations on CI Engine performance, emissions and its limitations use biodiesels from Jatropha, Mahua and Neem oils” from Uttrakhand Technical University, Dehradun. He has done his M. Tech. in Mechanical-CAD from HBTU, Kanpur and B.Tech.in Mechanical Engineering from UPTU Lucknow. He possesses more than 09 years of teaching experience. Mr. Kumar has published more than 10 research papers in international and national journals / conferences. He has attended a number of QIPs / FDPs at IITs and NITs.
