Department of Electrical Engineering

Department of Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 1999 with a clear vision to contribute its bit in the national effort of providing quality Electrical Engineers in the service of mankind. Starting from the modest beginning the department has grown from strength to strength to become a versatile entity. This has become possible because of the perseverance, sincerity and dedication exhibited by our faculty staff and students.

The B.Tech course was approved by AICTE in 1999 and affiliated by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Agra.

The first batch of electrical Engg passed out in 2003. When UPTU came into existence in 2000, the Institute was approved by it. Initially the department had a intake of 60 students which was increased to 120 in 2007 while 180 in 2012. The Department has been playing a pioneering role in producing world class technocrats.  The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and innovate. The department has distinguished faculty, all holding M. Tech & PhD degrees from renowned institute. The faculties of the department have been constantly carrying out research on many cutting edge technologies and regularly publish papers in journals. The department also under takes many research projects sponsored by both the government and Industry. The Deptt. grew with time, reflecting the needs of a changing society and established new areas of teaching and research in electrical engineering . This is the reason that in the year 2005 the Department  got accreditation from NBA. The singular objective and high level of dedication by the staff and the students of the department coupled with full co-operation from the management culminated into securing accreditation in 2006.

After getting accreditation M.Tech in power system programme was approved by AICTE in 2008 with intake of 18. Now the intake has been increased from 18 to 36. The courses are being run under the MTU Noida. The department is well equipped and progressing day to day with following facilities:

The Department organizes workshops, seminars and symposia in various specialized fields with participants from all over the country, and runs summer/winter schools for the benefit of teachers of other engineering colleges and professional engineers.

The Mission and Vision of Electrical Engineering department are as follows:

MISSION:

To Grow into a centre of excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the field of electrical engineering

VISION:

Electrical engineering department is committed to impart quality education in the field of electrical engineering to young minds of budding engineering to meet the challenges of future with Vision, competence and Excellence.

HOD’s Profile

btech electrical engineering

Electrical Engineering curricula have been under frequent revision in all Universities in the light of rapid advancements in electrical technology. For effective teaching of the latest syllabi, the Department has built a team of dedicated, experienced and learned faculty members who have rich experience in reputed academic institutes and industries. This blend of experienced teachers with years of experience in electrical engineering practice gives the department an edge over its peers and gives the perspective graduates an added advantage in the competitive job market. The personality development program run by the training and placement cell of the institute helps in the development of overall personality of our students and hones their soft skills to fetch them rewarding and lucrative jobs rather easily.

The department is well equipped Labs for training the students. Modern facilities by way of simulation and design software packages, modern measuring instruments and machines for research by post graduate students and faculty members exist. The institute library and the departmental library are both liberally stocked with reference books, manuals and journals.

Student’s centric teaching learning processes have been the core of our pedagogy. Frequent interactions with industry experts and noted academicians by organizing seminars and workshop keep the students and faculty members abreast with the latest developments and trends in the electrical industry. Inspiration to students and encouragement for innovation is backed by industry relevant projects. The professional society of the department, SPARX organizes several technical exchanges, debates, quizzes and competitions to enhance the students, skills for technical presentation and interaction.

The demand of electrical engineering graduates as such has been on the rise and is expected to grow further as planners and policy makers give a push to power generation, and as major reforms are implemented in the transmission and distribution sector. Similarly, for enhancing the awareness for power conservation, for designing and promoting use of energy efficient devices, equipment and appliances, more and more power engineers will be required. There has been a great gap between the demand and availability of competent electrical engineers. The IEC Group has anticipated the emerging scenario and started the B.Tech course in electrical engineering way back in 1999 to contribute in the national effort to reduce this shortfall in availability of power engineers.
